Lot #17  – Women of the Wild West Horse Sale
2020 Gray APHA Gelding
Hesa Colord Cat x Im Strait Laced x Strait From Texas

Everything’s better with Gravy! This 15 hh, gentle guy is everyone’s favorite. He’s got a great personality and the looks to match! Gravy has been used outside a ton. He’s an outstanding ranch and trail horse with a lot of miles under his belt.  I’d trust Gravy with almost any rider. He’s very laid back. I’ve ridden him bareback, leaned out of the saddle to pick stuff up off the ground, and climbed all over him and nothing fazes him. He’s been hauled a ton and even competed in the skijoring this winter! Gravy’s top side goes back to the great High Brow Cat and his dam is a daughter of Strait From Texas, a stallion that earned more than 2000 APHA performance points in the roping, reining, and cowhorse. This is a very nice, sound, quiet young gelding that most people would enjoy.

The arena stuff:

Gravy has a great handle. He steers easily, transitions well, and changes leads. He trots over poles, has roped the sled and the lead steer extensively, and has been my go-to colt starting horse this spring. He’s easy-going and fun to get along with! Gravy has a great neck rein and rides around well in a shank bit. He’s also happy in a snaffle if that’s more your style.

The outside stuff:

Gravy has a lot of miles outside both as a trail horse and a ranch horse. I’ve ridden him bareback to the mailbox on cold windy days, I’ve gathered big desert allotments on him, I’ve ridden him around in the Snake River just for fun, and I’ve branded on him. I like him outside a lot–he’d make an outstanding trail horse! He crosses water and knows how to move around in rough country.

The good citizen stuff:

Gravy has been hauled extensively and is great to trailer. He’s a gentleman to be around! Easy to saddle, blanket, shoe, and more. He’s laid back and is very consistent even after time off. This is a straightforward horse that would fit almost anyone. He’s definitely wise beyond his years! Gravy does have an old scar on his right hind fetlock. It doesn’t affect him at all–he’s been 100% sound for the two years I’ve owned him.
